In September 12, 1962, in front of a crowd of 40,000 people in the Rice University football stadium in Texas, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the United States, delivered a speech that would go down in history.
“There is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be used for the progress of all people,” Kennedy said. “For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man”.
He wanted to tell us that everything, or almost everything, depends on us. Our day to day work, as well as our challenges. Today, climate change affects many aspects of our territory and society: manufacturing industry, public health, leisure, the quality of the marine and terrestrial environment, the production and consumption of energy, food production and so much more.
The companies of the Marraffa-Werent Group have always placed great emphasis on environmental issues. Environment and health and safety in the workplace are the pillars on which the company management aims to construct its own vision of development. Our “Plastic Free Company” project has made it possible to progressively eliminate plastic from our daily lives: introducing a series of measures across the board, that in recent years have allowed a progressive elimination of plastic, as we urge our employees to adopt behavioural patterns that not only more follow closely existing plastic free guidelines, but are also aimed more generally at protecting and respecting the environment not only in the workplace, but also at home. This has enabled us in recent months, to obtain a “green badge” from the Ministry of the Environment. Health and safety in the workplace is the real know-how of the companies of the Marraffa-Werent Group, and is at the basis of all of our staff training, thanks to the creation of a fully-fledged permanent onsite training centre. A school that is obviously aimed at internal staff, but also open to those outside the organization, who want to join any of our individual courses, held by a team of experienced teachers.. The future is already here, you just have to open the door!
