Demolition of three 65 m container cranes in the port of Taranto

Marraffa has completed a major crane demolition operation in Tarantodismantling three 65-meter-high port cranes weighing approximately 800 tons each. The imposing structures were located in the heart of the port of Taranto and their removal required a highly specialized and perfectly planned intervention.

This complex operation had the objective of removing the upper parts of the cranes, allowing the demolition company to complete the work in complete safety.

Crane demolition in Taranto: technical study and safety first

The demolition of port cranes of this size requires careful engineering design. The Marraffa technical office conducted an in-depth preliminary analysis to identify the most efficient and safe solution for crane dismantling.

A total of 26 components were removed from each crane, for a total of approximately 80 pieces, with the heaviest reaching 70 tons and located at a height of 50 meters.
